How to Update to Windows 11 From Windows 10
Please follow these instructions if your computer is eligible for the Windows 11 Update.
1. Go to the Start Menu by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard or on the bottom left of the taskbar and choose the Settings gear from the side panel.
2. Select the Update & Security option.
3. There should be a banner at the top that looks like the image below. Select Download and Install. Note: You may need to press Check for Updates for this banner to show. This install can take up to an hour and it is recommended that you begin the download in the morning and continue working like normal until it is completed.
4. Once the Updates are completed, the status will say Pending restart. Press Restart Now once this happens. Note: This restart will take several minutes and it is recommended that you restart it when you go to lunch or take a longer break.
5. After the restart, the update is finished. There will be some cosmetic changes which are most notable in the File Explorer and the Taskbar. If you wish to have more information regarding those changes, please read the Windows 11 Update Changes solution article.
If you have any issues with the install, please submit a ticket through the IT Portal.
