March 2025 - Asset Tags Breakdown
March 2025
This month we are going to focus on breaking down the new Asset tags that IT has been working on getting implemented. We wanted to get a better idea of what devices we have assigned to people so we can more efficiently replace their devices when they age out. We asset tag computers, docks, monitors, company phones, hotspots, routers, jobsite printers, and the other miscellaneous office meeting room items. The goal is to get all our hardware that we asset tag on a lifecycle routine to help eliminate issues that occur with them being too old or outdated.

All asset tags are six digits, but the first two numbers will change based on what kind of device you have. For computers, they are labeled with 01, monitors 02, docks are 03, internet devices like hotspots and routers are 04, company phones are 05, printers are 06, and the miscellaneous office meeting items are 07. This helps us more quickly determine the type of device that is having an issue when you call in or submit a ticket, as well as separating them out in our inventory system so we can better track replacement cycles since they will differ between each device type.

Another cool feature about the asset tags is that they include the IT Help Desk phone number at the top. This way you can easily have our contact information available whenever an issue occurs with your device.
